Athens 2015
Me - photographing Roma people.
It happened in February 2015 walking in the streets of the Harbor of Athens in Piraeus.
The old used camera that I bought from my brother hanging around my neck trying to be a photographer.
Being in a very difficult and troubled time in my life, I was in search for finding reasons, meaning and, I guess, happiness.
Photography appeared to me as a chance.
But things were not going like I hoped them to.
It was the third day of my photo journey and I had nothing that I believed was of any value when I crossed the street and saw a young Roma girl at a parking lot.
I approached her and could see that she had just been crying. I asked her if I could take a picture of her and, to my surprise, she agreed right away and seemed rather happy for me intruding.
The kindness of the little girl overwhelmed me and I was happy to see her smile as she looked at the picture. This photo turned out to be the one that would give me the confidence for continuing photography.
